Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
This policy explains what information unscramble.tools (“we”) handles when you visit the site, and the choices you have. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information such as your name or email address through the tools.
What we collect
- Letters and words you search for. These are sent to our server to produce results. We do not link them to you.
- Server logs. Our hosting and content delivery network (Cloudflare) process technical data such as IP address, browser type, requested page and time, for security and to keep the site running.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are used and how the site performs. It uses cookies or similar technologies and collects usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type.
- Advertising. We may use Google AdSense to show ads (see below).
- Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep your message and address only to reply and handle your request.
Cookies and local storage
The site itself does not set a login or tracking cookie. Your browser’s local storage remembers your choices (colour theme and whether spoken pronunciation is muted) on your own device only. Analytics and advertising partners may set their own cookies, described below.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message and can accept or decline personalised ads and advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy and cookie settings offered by that message, or by clearing the site’s cookies in your browser.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics collects usage data through cookies. You can prevent this with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
Why we process data
To operate and secure the site, to measure and improve it, and to fund it through advertising. Where the law requires consent (for example for advertising cookies in the EEA and UK) we rely on your consent; otherwise we rely on our legitimate interest in running a safe, working site.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA/CPRA) you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. To exercise a right, email hello@unscramble.tools.
Sharing and transfers
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site: hosting and CDN (Cloudflare), analytics and advertising (Google). Some of these are located outside your country, including in the United States; they apply their own safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Retention
Server logs are kept for a short period for security. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings. Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with your request.
Children
The site is a general-audience word-game tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Third-party links
The site links to other websites, for example the sources credited in the footer. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
